Covid test when you travel to Svalbard - updated information


The requirement for a negative covid test before travelling Svalbard applies to everyone - including fully vaccinated. Permanent residents of Svalbard will receive a free test at Gardermoen and in the center of Tromsø, the Government writes in a press release on Friday afternoon.

Everyone who travels to Svalbard must present a negative antigen rapid test before departure to Svalbard. The test must not be older than 24 hours and must be taken i Norway. Negative self-test is not valid as documentation.

At Oslo Airport Gardermoen, Ullensaker kommune has made an agreement with Dr. Dropin, who runs a test station at the departure area, where you can have a free test. You can also have a test at Tromsø kommune’s test station in Tromsø city center.

You must present documentation that you are registered in the population register for Svalbard (proof of residence) to get a free test, the Government writes in the press release. See the full press release in the link to the right.
