Snowmobiles prohibited on bare ground
The Governor has received reports of snowmobiles being driven on bare ground in Adventdalen, which is prohibited. It is to be expected that inspections will be carried out in the area in the future.

This year, the mild weather and rain earlier this month have caused increasingly large areas to thaw, and there is bare ground in the centre of Longyearbyen and the surrounding areas, and in several places in the terrain there is also very little snow. Even though it is now below freezing, the Governor would like to remind you that it is not allowed to drive belt-driven vehicles on bare ground, only on ground that is both frozen and snow-covered.
