High avalanche danger also in the east

NVE reports that the avalanche danger is maintained at danger level 4 – high avalanche danger, for the Svalbard West region today, 25.02.2026.

The Svalbard East region is also being upgraded to danger level 4 – high avalanche danger today, 25.02.2026, due to an expectation of more loose snow available for wind transport in this region.

Nordenskiöld Land is currently at danger level 3 – Significant.

NVE also expects the avalanche danger to be adjusted down to danger level 3 – Significant - for both the Svalbard West and Svalbard East regions, starting tomorrow, 26.02.2026.
