Exception from Regulations on expulsion


Foreign nationals residing permanently in Svalbard can pass through the Norwegian mainland when traveling from abroad to Svalbard. The quarantine obligation on the Norwegian mainland due to the Covid 19 situation still applies.

This is regulated by a change in the Regulations on expulsion, etc. of foreigners without a residence permit in Norway due to public health. See link to the right (in Norwegian only).

The quarantine obligation due to the Covid 19 situation still applies. This means that people who come to Norway and who shall travel to Svalbard must first be in quarantine on the mainland. There is exemption for some countries and areas within the EU/Schengen.
