The Governor of Svalbard is the notary public in Svalbard. Members of the public must make an appointment in advance to receive these services (apostille stamp, etc.).

The Governor of Svalbard serves as the secretariat for the Svalbard Environmental Protection Fund. The secretariat manages day-to-day operations and deals with the announcement of funds, processing of applications and recommendations to the administration.
